LEAP-JIA

Learning to Predict Disease Trajectories in

 Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (LEAP-JIA)

The goal of this project is to develop a way of predicting how children with JIA fare over time (i.e. disease trajectory), in order to better tailor treatment of JIA based on a patient's risk of having severe disease. This project is funded by PCORI and is a CARRA (Childhood Arthritis and Rheumatology Research Alliance) endorsed study.

We use artificial intelligence (AI) methods to find patterns from medical data of patients who had JIA in the past, including the treatments they received and how they responded. Once we learn these patterns, we can make predictions on whether a newly diagnosed JIA patient will respond to a particular treatment.

We need your help!

Patients and caregivers' lived experience are central to our work. We want to make sure that the methods that we develop adequately capture patients' and caregivers' lived experience. We are currently recruiting patients and caregivers who are interested in helping us with our work.
